Next CM of Tamil Nadu – M. K. Stalin:
The state of Tamil Nadu is divided into 234 assembly, constituencies with MLA to represent the legislative assembly as per the Constitution of India. Tamil Nadu politics was dominated by two Regional parties - DMK and AIADMK for the last 50 years.
During 2016 assembly elections AIADMK leads with the majority with 136 seats while DMK also increased to 98 seats. After Jayalalitha’s demise AIADMK legislative assembly leader was assumed to be Edappadi K. Palaniswami and acting chief minister O. Panneerselvam in 2017. After Karunanidhi's demise MK. Stalin the former deputy chief minister of India became the DMK President.
In 2021 Elections DMK won. “TN has announced the victory of the DMK. The State will win hereafter” said Stalin in his statement
Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, Indian politician from Tamil Nadu and the opposition leader of Tamil Nadu Legislative assembly since 2016. Now he is the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu from 2021 to 2026. He is the president of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party and the 37th mayor of Chennai from 1996 to 2002. He is also the first Deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu from 2009 to 2011. He was born on 1 March 1953. He was the third son of second chief minister of Tamil Nadu, M. Karunanidhi. He completed his degree on History from Presidency College of Madras. He issued Doctorate by Anna University on August 2009. In 1973, he was my married to Durga in 1975 and has two children. His son is Udhayanidhi Stalin.
His political career began in early teens in his 14-year. He campaigned with Murasoli Maran in 1967 elections. He was elected for the general Committee of DMK in 1973. He became the young Wing Secretary of DMK in 1982. Mayor of Chennai, Stalin became the first directly elected mayor in 1996. He was re-elected for the mayor in 2001. However, In 2002 elections Jayalalithaa enacted new amendment and hence he was moved to be the MLA of Thousand lights. In 2003, he became the Deputy General Secretary of the DMK.
In 2006, after the assembly elections. DMK became the ruling party and Hence Stalin became the rural development and local Administration. Minister in Tamilnadu. He developed his skills in administration and in 2008, he became the treasurer of DMK. He was nominated as the Deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu by government Governor Surjit, Singh Barnala. On 2013 Karunanidhi named Stalin as heir apparent who would overtake the party after Karunanidhi’s death. In 2016 assembly elections, Stalin won The Kolathur constituency and was appointed as the opposition leader of the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly.
In 2018, after Karunanidhi’s death Stalin has been the president of DMK.
MK Stalin read out the DMK manifesto at a press conference and promised a reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs 5 and Rs 4 per litre, respectively, and a subsidy of Rs 100 on LPG gas cylinder.
DMK has also promised to cut Aavin milk price by Rs 3 among other things. The DMK election manifesto carries 500 poll promises.
Petrol price to be slashed by Rs 5 and diesel price by Rs 4.
Assembly proceedings to be telecast live.
Aavin milk price to be cut by Rs 3.
Emphasis would be given to make Thirukkural as national book.
Property tax will not be increased in the state.
Ration rice card holders to be provided Rs 4,000.
Night shelters would be constructed for street dwellers.
Rs 1000 crore to be allocated to maintain Hindu temples.
Rs 10,000 for farmers to buy new motors.
Tablets with free data to be given to government school students.
Work for 75% Tamil people in industries.
Maternity leave for women would be increased to 12 months.
Law will be passed to lift NEET in the first assembly session.
Rs 100 would be provided as a subsidy for cooking gas cylinders.
500 Kalaignar food stall (similar to Amma canteen) to be created in Tamil Nadu.
Rs 200 crore would be allocated to maintain churches and mosques.
Trichy, Madurai, Salem, Nellai and Coimbatore to get Metro Rail.
Student loans of those below age 30 years to be waived off.
Separate ministry to be created to fulfill all these promises.
M.K Stalin wins the elections including alliances in 158 seats with DMK in 126 seats. This election is the first in the state without two of Tamil Nadu’s towering political figures, M Karunanidhi and J Jayalalithaa. The gap they left in the political arena has given rise to other fronts over the last few years.
